Almost there
Yet not quite
Suspended in air
Yet too low for flight
Left or right
That is the question
One is comfort
And familiarity
The other is new
And possible calamity
Left or right
That is the question
One is improvement
The other betrayal
Either way
The knife will cut deep
Either way
I’m sure to lose sleep
But what if I rose up
From these damp heavy ashes
And didn’t stop to wait for luck
And didn’t look at a sign
Left or right
To tell me the future
That is already mine
An excellent summation of the age old question.
I’m sure you’ll make either choice work!
By the way, this will stick in my head next to Frost.
Ah yes, “The Road Not Taken”. I found this book at my local library called “Poetry Speaks: Expanded” It has many different poets and their poems in it. There are three CDs with it that have recordings of the authors reading their own poems. It’s quite fascinating and one of the recordings was Robert Frost reading “The Road Not Taken” and several others. It’s a neat book if you can find it on eBay or somewhere else.
Did your wife like the bookmark?
Andrea
She did – she laughed herself silly when it came in.
Sadly, it’s only an at home bookmark, as it’s too easy for the feet to come off if she carries it in her bag.
Many are the paths to the future, many are the paths of life be brave take the one less trod.
Yes, we must be brave enough to forge a road of our own, no matter the obstacles

So many roads, signs and detours just to reach your destination can drive anyone crazy. But we keep moving forward. Good job. Oh! I wanted to let you know that I nominated you for the Genuine Blogger Award.
Oh thank you so much!! Unfortunately, I do not accept awards but the thought means so very much!!

The road is not easy, so much choices, a lot of which brought us pain and heartaches…I’m just glad that we get to choose the other route after…life never runs out of surprises….Beautiful, moving, very real realistic, some thing we all can relate. Wishing you all the love and joy…
Thank you!! 🙂

This poem simply made me smile. Choices can be difficult, but youth has the gift of life, and this poem is filled with life and excitement about life and the future. I smile.
Yes and youth also has the gift of stupidity and the gift of time to make up for it 🙂

Choices aren’t easy…but usually more so than we realize. Of course, in hindsight the signposts are always more certain…I just had the experience of realizing the power of one from over ten years ago!
Keep watching and weighing but never stop living from your heart and instincts. They will also show you the way.
I hope your decision was the “right’ one!!
I try to, but sometimes they tell me to do crazy stuff….
