The Idea

17 01 2012

I love quotes and I love poetry, so I had an idea to combine the two.  I hope to do more quote inspired poetry and perhaps even hold some contests in the future…….maybe…….I do encourage you to write words that the quote evokes from you, if any.

It is useless to send armies against ideas.

-Georg Brandes

An all-consuming fire

Carried by winds

Higher and higher

Blasting straight through

Every brick wall

Adversaries forced

On their knees to a crawl

No bullet can harm it

No jail can contain

Or knife try to maim

This unseen force

Of so many names

Fight it

Deny it

Close your eyes

And not see

This age-old fury

Like pounding rain

It cannot be ignored

This ultimate instigator

The Idea

I’ve always loved poetry inspired from quotes, movies or even songs. You’ve certainly got a unique style. I really liked this one. Keep writing!

“an idea is bulletproof” the immortal words of V (from V for Vendetta) were brought to my mind as I read this powerful thought. This is super powerful! Amazing work, Andrea 🙂

Thank you, I have often felt that quotes are simply the condensed version of poetry.
Hope things are going well your way!!!

Great quote and poem. The idea or image of light bursting or forcing or burning its way out of darkness or through the clouds comes to my mind…even perhaps a ray of sunlight.

The sun IS the source of everything 🙂

Wonderful quote and poem inspired by it. Doesn’t this go right to the heart of the whole censorship issue your posts a few on?

Yes, in retrospect, that’s true. But I wrote this one before I even knew about SOPA/PIPA
Life’s little coincidences 🙂

My thoughts and words … the pic of the man standing in front of the tank in China’s Tinnemon square… I even thought he was holding a brief case. One against an army. That pic changed the view we had of China at the time just as your words and that of others can possibly change the world….. c’mon I can hope can’t I!!!!!! 🙂

Nice one, Andrea! (=

I’m a lot obsessed with quotes too and I write quotes-based articles. Maybe I’ll try to do some poetry based on quotes as well …

Thoughts?
