Winter Tanka

8 01 2012

– This is a new form of Japanese poetry that I recently discovered.  It is very similar to haiku, but has two more lines.  The syllable scheme is 5, 7, 5, 7, 7.  So, it essentially a haiku with two more seven syllable lines.

Trees have been laid bare

The world has shriveled up tight

Colors have faded

The light has succumbed to dark

Winter wraps us in its arms

Of COURSE you were looking for the rhyme scheme for a sestina! That makes perfect sense. : )

I adore your writing, your curiosity, your courage and YOU!

lol I plan on publishing one very soon, they are hard to write, you have to use the same six words, in alternated order, at the end of each line in each stanza, it’ll make more sense when you see one.
Thank you, I’m touched!! I admire your courage too, you have survived so much emotional duress and have come out on top of the world!!
Cheers to girl power!!! XXX

Vampire Weather

In white, as a bride
Veiled by nature’s winter coat
Complementing eyes

Our gazes meet across puffs
Of frosted breath at ev’ning

Thank you for sharing this! It is beautiful. Inspiring me to share my first attempt with you 🙂

Thank you for inspiring!
